<p style="margin-bottom: 12pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Dear
Khasi Hills Sponsor,<br>
<br>
We hope that you are enjoying the holidays.<br>
<br>
There has been a great deal of news and activity since our last update.
The letters from sponsored students has been received and the youth will be
organizing them and distributing them to you after the New Year. <br>
<br>
The youth have also undertaken to provide additional support for one of the
students at Nongtarian school. Her name is Iahunlang Marbaniang. She is
12 years old and was recently orphaned and taken in by a neighboring family.
The addition support will be to assist this family with the added expense of
taking care of Iahunlang. Look for more information on her situation in
the coming weeks. Her photo is attached. Iahunlang is standing on
the right. <br>
<br>
We were also sent pictures from the recent harvest. The explanation
accompanying the pictures describes them far better than I could:</span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 12pt; margin-left: 40px;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">This
is the busiest time for our farmers in this region where rice is a staple crop.
Harvesting is in full swing (see pictures of farmers : 1- separating
grains from straw by hitting on the rocks; 2- using wind in getting
"fruitful grains" separated from "fruitless husk")
[winnowing]. For some, the whole families are staying in the field itself
— even small children are extending their helping hands in the harvest. </span></p>
<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial;"><font size="2">After
the holidays, look for the Youth groups poster and additional information in
the Fellowship Hall.<br><br>
Wishing you all the goodness of the New Year. <br><br><span>Patrick Malloy</span></font></span>
