We should have these ready for you shortly. In the meantime, I have attached a couple of of the images to this e-mail. The pictures are fairly self-explanatory. The first is a picture of the school building and the students and teachers, the second, an interior of a school room, and the final, a picture of a student receiving a present of a sweater. We are currently collecting renewals of sponsorships. If you can, we would love to receive your renewal on Superbowl Sunday, 2.4.07 (Tomorrow). I have attached a renewal form to this e-mail; there will also be blank forms in the Fellowship Hall. We would like to receive as many of these as possible so that we can send the funds over with the wire that the National UU sends in Mid-February. As you have likely heard, the Youth have also undertaken a new initiative in the sponsorship project. One of the Nongtarian students, Iahunlang (Yah-hun-lang) Marbaniang, 12-years old, was recently orphaned. She has been taken in by a neighboring Unitarian family. The Youth will sponsor Iahunlang and aid the family in defraying the additional costs of caring for her. Her yearly upkeep was estimated at the modest sum of $160/year. The Youth will be conducting fundraising to meet these costs. If you would like to contribute to her fund, your assistance would be most welcome. If you have still not received your letter from your sponsored student, please see Patrick Malloy tomorrow before Second Hour. After tomorrow, we will mail them to you. I have misplaced the list that coordinated the Khasi students' personal names with their numbers. While I the number of your student, I do not know the names of each of your students If you get a chance, would you e-mail me your student's personal name? You will find it on their letters to you. Please be sure to give me both names. Note that "Khublei" is the word for "peace" and is used as a word to conclude a letter. If you find a "U" of a "Ko" [or maybe Ka], please include that. Also please put your full name in the e-mail--I am still a little rusty on everybody's last names. We would like to distribute pictures of your students to you this coming Sunday, and the quicker I get the names, the quicker I can have the picture ready for you. If you have not yet renewed your sponsorship, please do so ASAP. And we would also like to send out your letters to the students soon as well. Thank you. Message-ID: Greetings all, Two bits of important news: 1) Thanks to the smart work of Peter, we have reconstructed your student list and we can now distribute student pictures. I will have the pictures with me this Sunday during coffee hour. Feel free to ask me when you see me, as well. Just a heads up, however. Not all of the students were present for picture day, so there are a few kids for whom we do not have pictures. 2) Only about 1/2 of last years sponsors have renewed for this year. The Khasi school year has already started and we are anxious to have all of the kid's schools fees taken care of. So we ask that if you want to renew for this year, please, Please, PLEASE do so this Sunday. After Sunday we will open the sponsorships to people who did not have a student last year and would like to sponsor a student this year. A final piece of good news: thanks to donations and youth fund-raising efforts, we have raised enough funds to support Iahunlang (Ya-hun-lang) the young girl who was recently orphaned and taken in by a neighboring family.
